English: "Four Types of Serial Narration on Television. An illustrative approach to theory, history and discourse"

The layout and typography of this anthology simulate the flows of classic and modern tv (such as on demand). The scientific text series (written by five authors, marked in different fonts) are combined by a narrative/dramaturgical style: Some episode start with a cold open, text episodes separate themselves from others not only due to their font, they use a textual form of an intro and a decorative font as well; the episode are structured in dramaturgical parts/acts, cliffhangers make you want to know more ...
(Text-) Series 1 deals with four common forms of narration on tv (I. serial, II. series, III. flexi narrative, IV. miniseries), series 2 is a history lesson on how the tv serial became what it is today, including its predecessors for example in literature. Series 3 describes the way tv is judged, criticised or how




it became a quality product. Series 4 shows how the flow/the flows of television has/have a paradox note, which is declared artistic on the one hand and a commercial instrument on the other hand. Small texts -- similar to advertising -- describe shortly -- as being kind of a series of its own, series 5 if you will -- several phenomena: such as cold open, cliffhanger ... All serials/series are divided into episodes and seasons, which intervene one another -- like in television: So there is no beginning or end to this book ... Altogether the book allows to understand how fictional serial tv narrates, is produced, is distributed and how it evolved from ancient copy shops and serial novels. Reading this book is not only a traditional knowledge transfer via written words, it is a living experience of televion´s structures/narrations -- the book is both entertaining and informative: The editor and his team try to achieve a more open and modern approach to education -- for a readership of several scientific backgrounds on the one and those who are interested in serials/are fans of serials on the other hand.




The book is the third artistic part of Hahn´s doctoral thesis -- in content, layout and typography the heterotopia "TV/Media" (a book understood as a virtual heterotopia: one or more worlds are accessible by reading it/immersing in it) is represented/becomes visible.
